A study released late last month directly links temperature spikes
in China to the country’s burning of fossil fuels and release of greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere. China, the world’s largest producer of greenhouse
gases, has experienced higher average temperatures, and researchers behind the study
blame China’s consumption of coal. Although China has invested heavily in
alternative energies, the country’s emission of greenhouse gases, produced by
burning coal for energy, top the next two biggest polluters, the United States
and India, combined. The country has experienced higher high temperatures
during the day, and higher low temperatures at night.
